Be the Good

Wednesday, November 27, 2019 Leave a Comment

We are all granted the ability to make choices in our own lives that can echo in the lives of others. As a mother, I have tried to instill in my children the capacity to view the world outside of themselves - it is truly what I care most about in who they eventually become. And one of the greatest legacies of being alive during this time in our country is standing up in the face of injustice and speaking and acting when you witness something profoundly wrong.

I have had the great honor to participate in the formation and serve on the Board of a tremendous non-profit, Border Kindness, working on the boundary of our country and Mexico aiding the masses of refugees huddled along its border.

I have traveled there and worked with the women and children and families seeking help and guidance in navigating the asylum process. I held babies and hugged mothers and cried and laughed and witnessed their most profound struggles. You can see images and read stories of these beautiful people on Facebook, TwitterInstagram, and YouTube.

Regardless of how you fall politically, these people are seeking what we all seek:  safety, health, happiness, and a future.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle selected Border Kindness as one of their 17 charities to follow on Instagram in October, highlighting causes close to their heart. In October they focused on "community" after a trip to Africa. I'm grateful for the attention the royal couple has brought to Border Kindness, as it's a cause near and dear to my heart, too.

Please consider donating to Border Kindness this holiday season.

Monetary donations of any amount are truly life-changing for so many. Donations can be made through:

     VENMO @Border-Kindness
     ZELLE info@borderkindness.org
     CASH APP $borderkindness
     PAYPAL info@borderkindness.org

We also have a holiday list here: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/318SNZ5T75O7P featuring mostly toys for the children. I will be traveling down again in early December and would be beyond thrilled to deliver any donations as well.

Happiest of Holidays to you Stapleton (and beyond) Moms.
