Zipcar Zips Into Stapleton

As a development and as a community, Stapleton is all about being green. How fortunate, then, that Zipcar, a car sharing network, sports green for its company color. On March 1, Zipcar announced that it’s “wheels when you want them” membership service is now available in Stapleton.

A total of four Zipcars are now available for reservation by the hour or by the day and are parked in easily accessible locations throughout Stapleton at East 29th Place & Central Park Boulevard, 29th Avenue & Roslyn Street, East 29th Place & Roslyn Street, and 32nd Avenue & Syracuse Street. The vehicles are parked in designated spots for convenient pick-up and drop-off and can be reserved in seconds on Zipcar’s mobile app, online or over the phone.

At the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Sean Mackin, manager of Parking Operations with Denver Public Works said, “We are pleased to see Zipcar’s presence in Denver expand to Stapleton to offer this unique neighborhood a new transportation option. Denver’s car share program helps further the City’s goal of providing people with options on how they get around town.”

Stapleton’s fleet of Zipcars features a variety of cleverly-knick-named makes and models, including a Ford Explorer named “Eddie,” great for getting the whole family around town, a Honda Fit dubbed “Pinkman” to zip around town, and a Subaru Crosstrek named “Christina” for a weekend up in the mountains.

In addition, Stapleton will have a selection of cars that allow flexible features that allow members to choose their destination (one-way or round trip), change their destination mid-trip, and extend their reservation indefinitely. Each reservation includes gas, insurance and 180 miles of driving per day, making Zipcar a great option for those looking for ways to save money on the high cost of car ownership.

And that’s a big part of the appeal of Zipcar and other car-sharing services. “Stapleton residents, visitors and businesses now have all the benefits of car ownership without the cost and hassles. Plus, each Zipcar removes the need for up to 13 personally owned vehicles, helping the City of Denver reduce congestion and emissions as well as alleviate parking demand,” said Nicole Dalmy, Denver market manager for Zipcar.

Zipcar’s launch in Stapleton builds on the company’s presence in Denver, where more than 70 Zipcars, including seven cars with flexible features, are available in nearly 40 locations in the greater Denver area, including downtown, West Highlands, Boulder, and at the Denver International Airport. Zipcar members can reserve and drive vehicles throughout greater Denver or in any one of the hundreds of cities and towns or more than 60 airports around the world where Zipcar operates.  To join Zipcar instantly, download the Zipcar mobile app on iTunes or Google Play.

Local businesses in Stapleton can also benefit from Zipcar’s presence through the Zipcar for Business (Z4B) program that offers discounted driving rates Monday through Friday. The Z4B program helps businesses save money, meet environmental sustainability goals and reduce parking requirements by providing employees with access to Zipcar for business needs and other uses.
