As an Interior Designer paint colors seem to be the thing most new clients need help with. After 20+ years I have my go to favorites that work in a large variety of homes. I thought I would share these colors that have done me good over the years!
As you will notice all these colors are Benjamin Moore. You might ask why them, well I will tell you of all the paint brands I have used over the years they are the only ones I can count on to be true to their samples. The added benefit is they have small sample bottles that cost around $6, great for brushing out a sample on the wall and touching up.
Words of Wisdom
I won't take the chance of just buying a large can of paint off a paper sample and you shouldn't either. I always brush out a sample of a paint color at every new client, even if I have used it before…you never know.
Note that some of these samples are not true to their actual color, but they will give you an idea.
My go to White Benajmin Moore Mayonnaise #OC-85. Let’s face it white is boring, but I love this white crips but with a touch of cream. It works anywhere.
My Favorite Grey Benajmin Moore Pebble Beach #1597. This grey is just the right shade, not too blue, not too red. Grey’s can be challanging, but this grey does me right everytime I use it.
The perfect Taupe or my case Taupes Benajmin Moore Briarwood #RME-73 Both these taupes are fantastic, again taupes can be difficult…to grey or red. Briarwood is the perfect darker taupe while
Benajmain Moore Annaplois Grey #996. is a great lighter taupe and a great neutral for a master bedroom.
The blue that will never make me sad is Benajmin Moore Van Courtland Blue #HC-145. This blue is a fanastic just the right balance. Gives any room that calm ocean feel.
If you are looking for a darker blue Benajmin Moore Van Deusen Blue #HC-156 This blue is a safe bet and a great true dark blue.
My go to yellow is Benajmin Moore Lighthouse #2018-60 Is a great yellow that will brighten any room with out being to overwhelming. Great for that gender neutral baby room!
Finally green mine is Benajmin Moore Georgian Green #P243. This green is just right, not to grey and not to blue. (this sample is showing a little more brown).
Another green I recently use and love is Benjamin Moore Dill Pickle #2147-40. Of course this isn't for the boring - it is a super fun green but isn't going to look awful in a few years. It looks great with the Van Deusen Blue above.
