Sneak Peek at Stapleton's newest neighborhood, Conservatory Green

We went to a lunch hosted by Forest City today and got a sneak peek at the next neighborhood in Stapleton: Conservatory Green.
Where is it? It's north of I-70, bordered by the shops at Northfield Stapleton on the south, RockyMountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge on the east (did you know? the largest refuge in the country), and Dick's Sporting Goods Park on the north.
How many new homes? 500 new homes are planned in architectural styles fitting the prairie (Craftsman, Foursquare, Farmhouse, Prairie, and Modern), with lots of greenways and trails, edible landscaping (cherry pies!), community gardens, and CenturyLink is putting in the big broadband pipes, all the way to the homes. I'm fuzzy on the details, but it will provide unlimited bandwidth and my fellow social media friends were oohing a little bit.
Which builders? "Hi, my name is Liz and I live in a Parkwood in Eastbridge. Yes, we love our attic."
Yes, we all know our neighbors by builder and neighborhood.
Parkwood gets some bigger lots - and they're taking into account our Stapleton love of backyard gardening and chicken raising, so will offer options like double doors on the garage so you can fit the wheelbarrow out.

Did you know? 100 homes have already been sold in the Bluff Lake neighborhood - out of the ~ 300 planned?

What about a high school? It's on the ballot to be funded through mill and bond levy 3A and 3B. Visit Together for Denver Schools to find out all about this bond. The Stapleton high school is just $40 million of the $466 million bond to update schools.
What if it doesn't pass? Then DPS has to get real creative, because that high school will be coming in the fall of 2015 no matter what: there is too much need for a 6-12 campus to house 1,800-2,300 east Denver students.

Hey Eastbridge, you're getting your Bluff Lake Elementary School! It's K-6th for 600 students opening fall 2014. Committees are being formed NOW to determine curriculum and details. Want to get involved? Let me know, I'll find out how. Contact Angie at DPS!
Did you know? Stapleton is Denver's only neighborhood that has no school boundaries. We are 100% choice. We are guaranteed a spot in one of the Stapleton schools (but it might not be your first choice).
Hey Conservatory Green! You'll be getting a K-8 the size of Swigert-McAuliffe, too! Look for that in the fall of 2014. The funding for the two elementary schools has yet to be worked out between Forest City and DPS.
How about the Eastbridge Town Center? No updates at this time, sorry. With all these new people moving to Bluff Lake, someone is bound to figure out how to sell us coffee and food. (Hint-hint, Sprout's, Marczyck's, Spinelli's...)
