Create A Luxurious Bedroom Retreat

Your bed is the ultimate haven. It is where you go to throw off your cares, to rest, to relax, and to prepare for the next day. And it should be one of the most luxurious parts of your home.
Here are some of our favorite tips for designing an elegant, comfortable bed that you will love falling into night after night.

  • Always use the highest quality linens that you can afford. If you are working with a limited budget, considering investing in sheets with a higher thread count. Since sheets are the closest layer to your body, that small investment will make a big difference in your comfort.
  • Its all about layers. As the Denver winters take their toll, layer mattress toppers and woolen or down blankets to add warmth and comfort.
  • Consider using a fabric headboard. This is a great place to incorporate the colors and patterns that you use elsewhere in the room.
  • Tie the design together with pillows and blankets that emphasize the color scheme of your bedroom. Pillows are great way to mix and match patterns, so focus on finding different patterns that use two or three similar colors.
  • Draping a carefully folded blanket across the foot of your bed is a great way to add another dose of color and pattern.
  • Balance patterns with solids. If you have busily patterned pillows, you might want to choose a solid color bedspread. This will keep your bed from being visually overwhelming.
  • Canopies are a great way to make any bed feel more luxurious. Be careful to choose fabrics that are muted, mature, and well-tailored.
