First day of kindergarten

My boy started kindergarten today.

He was nervous, but put on a brave face.

As we walked to school, he was eager to explore his independence.

Mom, you don't need to hold my hand. Everyone else is wearing t-shirts! You're walking too fast. Stop asking me questions. You're walking too slow, you're holding up the whole line.

He found the green cone to line up, shot me a glare that said "don't you dare hug or kiss me," and waved goodbye.

Other moms were crying, but I sighed with relief. He's an independent one. A stubborn, bossy one too.

I had to laugh at his bossiness. There are stories about my walk to kindergarten, where I made my mom walk behind me. The very traits that I struggle with are the ones he gets from me.

How was your first day?
