How can I update Grandma's dining room set?

I think the pictures speak for themselves: Old-fashioned. Monochromatic. Builder-standard light fixture.

Antique chairs with brocade seats that feel like they're about to break.
Rug that I thought I loved but now don't.

Then I saw the new Parkwood model, where they've got a traditional table with all these vivid colors, and I love it! But how do I do that?
