Students in Stapleton — including the children here at the combined Westerly Creek Elementary and Swigert-McAuliffe International School — are no longer automatically assigned a particular school, so families have to choose one... In those three neighborhoods, families near the schools get a priority ranking over other families in the city trying to choice in.
I'm happy about my choice of school - but disappointed that my kid won't go to the same school as his best friend down the block. That friend had siblings at Bill Roberts, and we felt the waitlist would be too long there. In reality, I don't know if that ended up being the case.
