Hey moms, train for the Colfax half-marathon!
I don't know about you, but the sun coming up at 6:00 a.m. has caused some serious spring fever to kick in.
To me, springtime means... running. Or in my case, putting on my running shoes, grabbing the dog, and walking briskly, breaking into the occasional jog. Sometimes a little sprint.
Well, if you're looking for a running group to train with, look no further: Erin at Stroller Strides has put together a training group of moms to run the half marathon (that's 13.1 miles) in the Colfax Marathon on Sunday, May 15.
The 12-week plan meets every Sunday morning at 7 am at various locations. (Stapleton, City Park, Cherry Creek trail...) They started with 4 miles and will progress up to 10.
They are 2 weeks in - but you can still join them! The cost is $115, but if you register now, you can do it for $105! Contact Erin at erinjohns@strollerstrides.net
Maria and I did Erin's 5K training a few years ago - post-baby -and loved it. We finished the Cherry Creek Sneak with a whole group of Stoller Striders - it was fabulous.
And my neighbor, Liz, ran her first 5K race ever with Erin - and then went on to run a half-marathon with Erin. She says, "I had never run more than a few miles in my life before I trained with Erin (and she had me running intervals). It was an amazing experience. All the other women I trained with were Stapleton moms most of whom had never run either, so we all really bonded and had fun."
Liz has since run several other half-marathons, including Las Vegas (6 months after baby #2!) and is training for the Colfax half-marathon too. Runners love the Colfax half - the course is flat, shady and fast.
What are you waiting for? Get out there this Sunday morning and let Erin guide you to the finish line. The sun has already been up for an hour by then.
