Apples & Pears

They say: nine months on, nine months off.

Technically, this is true. I am back to pre-baby weight. But my body is just not the same. Somehow, my body type has changed. All my life, I've been a pear. I was finally starting to not only accept it, but be really OK with it. But after #2, I'm an apple.

An apple!

I am not OK with this. Not at all.

So, after a couple of Stapleton moms raved about Stroller Strides -- something about looking better after baby #2 and butts that defy gravity -- I tried out a Stroller Strides class at the Bladium today.

First of all, I have to hand it to you moms that can make it to class. It took me an hour to load everyone up (snacks, bottles, sippie cups, suckers, books, matchbox cars, fireman ax, diapers, wipes, kleenex and double-Bob stroller). By the time I got into class, I was exhausted.

But quickly revived by 3 minutes of warmup and 3 minutes of cardio (that felt like 15) and a million lunges. And a whole hour of sweating and lunging and curling and something called the spider-man walk that made my 3 year old crack up. In fact, he spent the whole time cracking up at me. But he did stay in the stroller, quite happily, the entire class, while the baby slept.

At 45 minutes in, I found myself grinning ear to ear while running those sprints. Good to get this body moving again.

I'm already sore. And looking forward to that gravity-defying butt. And a flat stomach, if at all possible, dear Lord.

What: Stroller Strides
When/Where: Mon, Wed, & Thursday at 9:30 on the Bladium hockey rink (bladium membership is NOT required)
Tuesday & Saturday at 9:30 at Central Park (weather permitting)
