This could be me

I thought it was an article from The Onion: Parents of "chunky" infant denied insurance.

But it's for real.

A happy, healthy, breast-fed 4 month old in Grand Junction has been denied health insurance coverage.

You see, he falls into the 99th percentile in height and weight for babies his age, and to health insurance companies, that means he is obese, so they won't cover him.

Come on!

If this doesn't illustrate all that is wrong with our health care system, I don't know what does. If my husband lost his job, (God forbid) not only would both of us get riders for pre-existing conditions, but both my boys would be called "obese" -- they're not -- because they're over 95th percentile. Get cracking, representatives and senators!
