Stapleton by the numbers

Wednesday, October 28, 2009 Leave a Comment

Stapleton has become the model neighborhood for new urbanism -- that buzzword conjuring up sweet tea drunk on front porch swings, xeriscaped plants in the front yard, dogs and toddlers peacefully sharing wide open parks, unsupervised kids riding their bikes down the wide paths, even the white picket fence. Here's what we look like in October, 2009:

  • 3,500 Households in Stapleton in 2009

  • .82 children per household ~ approximately 2,800 children in Stapleton

  • Fewer than 150 of those kids are in high school

  • 1,000 kids will enter kindergarten from 2010 to 2013

  • There is a bubble of kids under age 5 -- the peak of the bubble is 2 year olds, 150 of whom will enter kindergarten in 2012

  • By 2015, the final build-out of Stapleton South of I-70 will be complete, adding another 2,000 households

  • Once South Stapleton is complete, there will be an estimated 4,000 children in Stapleton
