What's our Senator up to?
What's our senator Ken Salazar up to?
Cautioning Washington that Bush's arguments for developing oil shale in the west are misleading. Read his Washington Post op-ed here.
In summary, he says that:
1. Developing oil shale in Colorado and Wyoming won't affect our current high oil prices. If it could be done, not a drop of oil would come out for another 8 years or so.
2. It's not about whether we can do it, it's about giving away millions of acres of public lands to the oil companies. The ones who are making record profits. All part of Bush and Cheney's exit strategy: to give away as much public oil and gas to the oil companies as possible.
3. The technology to develop oil shale isn't quite there yet. For example, it requires unknown amounts of water to get the oil out of the shale -- and as we all know, water is scarce in these parts.
Rush Limbaugh had some fightin' words for Salazar. Of course he does.
