Have you ever been in or near a tornado?

Yes. Driving from Baltimore to Denver on July 4th weekend, 1994, around 5:00 pm, a huge thunderstorm whipped up, the highway suddenly cleared and under every overpass, we saw cars and trucks parked. Figuring they must know something I didn't, I pulled off the next exit and parked under the overpass while the most wicked, black, storm passed over us for the next half hour. I'm talking lightning flashes every single second, wind shearing buckets of rain off the highway, my car rocking with the wind gusts, and a howling so loud the radio couldn't drown it out. When it was over, the people in the car next to us said, "That was close, it just passed a few miles east," and I said, "What?! that wasn't even it????"
