Stapleton moms are talking about...
Saving the environment.
Last week Oprah did a show on simple things you and I can do to help save the environment. {Many Oprah shows spur days-long discussions among the Stapleton moms, incidentally.}
Some of the suggestions:
Change all your lightbulbs to the curly low-watt kind.
Use 7th Generation cleaning products.
Use just one plate and glass per person, per day. You use it, you wipe it down. (I give that one week)
Unplug all appliances when not in use (the "vampire" energy suckers).
Use washcloths instead of paper towels in the kitchen.
Go to Greendimes and get off the junk mail catalog lists. (I actually hesitated on that one. I love my Pottery Barn schwag.)
One load of laundry per week, per person. (Ha)
Grow your own veggies. (See, my New Years Resolution to plant a garden is not just good for me, it's good for the Earth too.)
And I'll add one of my own:
Don't put food waste into the trash. Organic materials in the landfill create vast amounts of methane gas -- one of the worst greenhouse gases!
Oh, and if you don't know how to get on the Stapleton Moms list, first you have to live in Stapleton. Then you have to go to Stapleton Online and try like 4 or 5 times to get approved to get access, then you can join the YahooGroup. There might be an easier way, but this is how I did it.
