Didja know?

Every time you scrape your food scraps into the trash can, did you know you're contributing to a powerful greenhouse gas? Organic materials rot very slowly in the landfill because of the lack of air, creating... methane.

You can recycle food scraps and yard trimmings by:

- Learning to compost - a natural fertilizer for your yard
- Mulch your leaves into your garden
- Recycle your Christmas Tree with Treecycle. From December 31 to January 11, just leave your trees out with the normal trash collection; they'll be ground into mulch by the city
- Leave lawn clippings on your lawn after you mow

Find out more at the America Recyles Day site. Three Stapleton families wrote about their 4 week challenge to become better recyclers.
