Non-makeup girls
You are either a makeup girl, or you're not.
The makeup girls instinctively know how to apply eyeshadow. They know how to make the most of foundation and blush and eyeliner. They have a skin care regimen.
The rest of us slap on some Oil of Olay, foundation, and on good days, a little mascara and lip gloss.
If I were a makeup company, I would target the non-makeup girls -- those of us who are too intimidated to stop at the makeup counters in the mall. The Bare Minerals makeup infomercials did a great job of that -- you get to watch women of all ages apply the makeup (hey, I can do that!) and then you call that 800 number and order everything you need -- and the bonus is you can do it at 3 in the morning.
The other company for us non-makeup girls is Benefit. Ladies, head over to Macy's in the Cherry Creek Mall and look for Connie -- she'll give you a 5 minute makeover (she even managed it when my kid was kicking and whining and spilling goldfish crackers all over the floor). They have products like "That Gal" -- a creamy pink magic potion that brightened everything up, even took care of the sun damage on my forehead. They call it a "face primer" (whatever that means) but for me it means I don't have to wear foundation. Or "Boi-ing" -- another magic powder that takes away the dark circles under your eyes. Or "Bluff Dust" -- it's yellow, and it does something cool to your face. It's not makeup, it's magic.
Oh yes: Nordstrom Cherry Creek opens TODAY and if you get there at 8:00 am, you can shop for makeup under the tents outside! Fun! (Not.)
